Our three weeks Italian Spanish adventure in late November 2022 ended in Alicante.
When planing this long vacation, some of the terms we had in mind were the distances and the connection between the locations. Everything had to be reached within couple of hours with a plain or a train ride.
Although, Norwegian air company covers a fair number of the cities in Spain, Valencia is not one of those, so in order to get on a direct flight back to Oslo, we took a train from Valencia to Alicante.
The two and a half train ride with RENFE company was a pleasant one, but arriving late in the afternoon we only had time for couple hours on the beach, a short city stroll, an ice cream and an early dinner. In a Colombian restaurant.
The restaurant was a down to earth eatery with tons of sweets in the window aisle, but no cocktails that I was kind of looking forward to, so we had some beers and tons of meat, rice and potatoes. All of the good stuff from the New World that conquered the Old one 🙂
Located on the eastern coast of Spain, this second largest city in the Valencian community, felt way smaller than Valencia. The big avenida streets were not so big and the beach was shorter. But the sea was a bit warmer, so we didn’t mind the distances.
With a stay over in Alicante we ended our long awaited and carefully planed winter escape from the renovation in Oslo. Starting in Firenze in Italy and ending in Alicante, Spain we were so overwhelmed by the culture, food and warm temperatures. So, much that I knew, somehow, sometimes, somewhere else we will have to repeat this setup. The future would tell, and my posts will describe it. 🙂
