Food tradition in Sweden is very much the same to Norwegian one. They both share the love for flatbreads and crunchy breads, simple bread spreads, pickled herring, sweet pickled vegetables and a lot of international foods, like burgers or Asian.
The only difference is an afternoon sweet break that includes a cup of coffee or tea with some kind of freshly baked pastry, called fika.
We were lucky enough to have fika every day in our hotel, after an afternoon nap, as the offer we had included both breakfast and dinner.

For a hotel breakfasts and dinners especially, we were pleasantly surprised to find out the food was amazing.
Hotel breakfasts are often on the safe side; with gazillion options suited for every taste. Not so common with lunches or dinners, when there are just few warm meals to choose from, but the kitchen staff in Odeon Hotel prepared some delicious everyday meals, like pasta, potato and roasts, meatballs and such.

Two meals a day were secured, so we only had to snoop around lunch meals, that was not so hard as there a dozens of restaurants in the area, and we went for the thing we knew we would like; like burgers, Asian, bbq and pizza, of course. There has to be a pizza restaurant on our list when traveling.
Brisket and friends are typical bbq style restaurant / bar paired with local brewery options and it a fantastic way to try some craft beers and nimble on the fresly smoked meat and side dishes that are made just before before opening.

Sun Wall buffet is, like the name says, buffet style restaurant with dozens of warm Asian dishes to fill you tummy with. Mistake is coming here very hungry because you can end up filling the plate with more than you can eat. Like I did. But those spring rolls, I could kill for. And even M found some plain rice and chicken for him self, which always gives extra plus to our dining experience. 😊
Now permanently closed in Gothenburg, but existing in Stockholm, V Italiano moderno is a eye catching fine dining interior design & quircky art style restaurant. Not quite intended for the typical trattoria, but the food was decent and the interior satisfied my visuals scenes, so we’re good.
2112 is an upscale pub type of eatery that offers burgers & beer. Nothing more, nothing less, but tasty burges and fine beer. And apple juice for the kid.
All in all, the food in Gothenburg did not disappoint. Fika was a hit and the rest was decent, tasty, fulfilling dishes with reasonable prices. Looking forward to go back!
